Why Subversive Media?
“Media” because we love music and we think it’s a good idea to show to the world the works of some artists we’ve find through friends, myspace, websites, netlabels… There are too many artists doing a great job out there to do nothing! We think we can contribute from this netlabel to promote this artists and make them rise.
“Subversive” because is a concept we adore… against the rules or the traditional ways and with full independence from regular labels, mass media or corporations, without any engagement or endorsement.
What is a Netlabel?
A netlabel (also online label, web label or MP3 label) is a record label that distributes its music primarily through digital audio formats (mainly MP3 or Ogg Vorbis) over the Internet. These music-files are often called netaudio. While similar to traditional record labels in many respects, netlabels typically emphasize free distribution online, often under licenses that encourage works to be shared (e.g., Creative Commons licenses), and artists usually retain copyright. What means EDM?
EDM means Electronic dance music, a broad set of percussive music genres that largely inherit from 1970s disco music and, to some extent, the experimental pop music of Kraftwerk. Such music was originally borne of and popularized via regional nightclub scenes in the 1980s. It is constructed by means of electronic instruments such as synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers, and generally emphasizes the unique sounds of those instruments, even when mimicking traditional acoustic instrumentation. (…) Dance music typically ranges from 120bpm, up to 200bpm, with techno, trance, and house being the most widespread.(Wikipedia)
Why a Creative Commons License?
Creative Commons provides free tools that let authors, scientists, artists, and educators easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to carry. You can use CC to change your copyright terms from “All Rights Reserved” to “Some Rights Reserved.” (Creative Commons)
Is there any money involved in this project?
Absolutely no. We’re doing this only and exclusively for the music and to promote the artists of the releases, so there is no money involved, not for them, not for us.
